Design Week 2014 is fast approaching....

Design stretches its long legs next week, and takes a walk all across the city.
As with any massive, mainstream festival in an urban centre, over the years, a smaller, grassroots version inevitably will crop up to showcase new ideas.

The Come up to my Room exhibition which was developed to give emerging designers in the city a voice, has developed into a key event, turning 11 this year.  11!  I remember the energy of the first year, and the amazing work that was showcased in that first year fondly.

The Toronto Design Offsite festival, http://todesignoffsite.com/about/, which began four years ago, brings together many of the most thoughtful, experimental and conceptual projects and objects from the design community and showcases them in various galleries and events across the city, primarily in the West end.  This is where you should begin your design adventure next weekend.  Here's a video about the festival!

This year, I'll be showing some new work at the Not Forkchops event, organized by IMM Living. http://imm-living.com/notforkchops/

The work in this show focuses on design related to the "Ultimate Dining Experience", tabletop and kitchen design.  I've come up with some special pieces that I'm really excited to launch at this years show!   Eight designers will be taking part, and our designs will be incorporated into a dessert tasting event on Saturday, which should be a lot of fun.

On Friday night, there will be beer and hot bunz!  Need I say more?  Come out and toast the event with us....the drinks are free, which will make lurching out into the chilly night easier.

Check back in next week, to see what pieces I'll be showing during Design Week, or better yet, come out to #Hashtag Gallery at 801 Dundas Street West, and see for yourself!
